RICHARD KNOX is an extraordinary keyboard artist with over 40 years of playing New Orleans unique style of Jazz with the former and current "whose who" in the Crescent city's music circles. Richards' playing style and sound is uniquely and instantly identifiable as New Orleans. He is a veteran musician who was fortunate enough to cut his eye teeth during a very exciting period of music development in the Crescent city. He now finds himself at the top of his game enjoying universal recognition as "the" go to" keyboardist for every occasion as he is always in great demand. At this writing, Richard Knox is a member of "The Kermit Ruffins Band", though he can be found playing gigs around New Orleans between sessions with Kermit, belting out his incredible sounds from his keyboard. Richard Knox was born in Champagne, Illinois on September 20, 1941and was the last of seven children. For as long as he can remember, he has been playing the piano. Relatives say that he started when he was about four years old. The first song he remembers playing was called "The Honey Dripper". By the time Richard entered high school, he had a yearning to play in a group. He got together with two of his fellow schoolmates and formed "Le Trois". They played "rock and roll" hits and imitated stand up groups like "Little Anthony and the Imperial".
