60's Popular Culture Video Clips. Duration : 8.85 Mins.

I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS OF SOME PHOTOS, SOME VIDEOS, AND MUSIC. This video is a school project about popular culture, society, and fashion in the 60's. Here it is the transcription of the voice over, in case you don't understand what we said (i know pronunciation may sound weird). Thank you for watching, feel free to comment and tell whatever you think. In the 1960s, deep cultural changes were altering the role of women in the society. More females than ever were entering the paid workforce, and this increased the dissatisfaction among women regarding huge gender disparities in pay and at the workplace. One of the most profound changes was happening in the bedroom. By the end of the Sixties, more than 80 percent of women were using contraception, after the birth control pill was approved. This freed many women from unwanted pregnancy and gave them many more choices, and freedom, in their personal lives. Gradually, society came to accept some of the basic goals of the Sixties feminists: equal pay for equal work, an end to domestic violence, to sexual harassment, and sharing of responsibility for housework. New technology, such as dish and laundry washing machines, made it easier and faster for house works to be completed, therefore leisure time was at its peak: it was mainly spent at the parks, playing frisbee or hula-hoop. Picnics were also frequent. People enjoyed going to the seaside on weekends, riding their brand new car or scooter. Also in this period the bikini ...

Akira Kurosawa 99th Birthday Director's Tribute Tube. Duration : 5.03 Mins.

See globally acclaimed directors Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Martin Scorsese pay tribute to the late Japanese film director Akira Kurosawa. This tribute was organized by the Anaheim University Akira Kurosawa School of Film and was held at the Cherry Blossom Gala at the Beverly Hills Hotel on March 23th, 2009, on what would have been the 99th birthday of Akira Kurosawa. Akira Kurosawa (March 23, 1910 - September 6, 1998) Akira Kurosawa was the youngest of seven children, born in Tokyo on 23 March 1910. He has said that the first important influence in his life was a teacher called Tachikawa, who was progressive in his emphasis on art education for the young. This was how the young Kurosawa was introduced to art and film. A talented painter, he enrolled in an art school that emphasized Western styles. Around this time he also joined an artists' group with a great enthusiasm for nineteenth-century Russian literature, with Dostoevsky a particular favourite. Another influence was Heigo, one of his brothers, who loved film and worked as a benshi, a film narrator/commentator for foreign silent films. His suicide deeply affected the director's sensibilities. In 1930 he responded to a newspaper advertisement for assistant directors at a film studio and began assisting Kajiro Yamamoto, who liked the fact he knew 'a lot about things other than movies'. Within five years he was writing scripts and directing whole sequences for Yamamoto films. In 1943 he made his debut as a ...

Having sold 450000 albums, Karunesh is one of the best-known New Age artists. Karunesh was born in Cologne, Germany in 1956. Although he had been drawn to music as a child and played in bands as a teenager, he chose to study graphic design as a career. However, after attaining his degree, Karunesh was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. His brush with death prompted him to choose music as a career instead of graphic design. He rethought his life and embarked on a spiritual journey of sorts, traveling in 1979 to India, where he met Osho in his ashram in Pune. He became initiated and took on a new spiritual name, Karunesh, a Sanskrit name meaning "master of compassion". Back in Germany, Karunesh lived in the Rajneesh commune of Hamburg for five years. Here he could develop his musical creativity in a spiritual surrounding. He came in contact with many musicians from all over the world and developed an ability to weave different styles and feelings from different cultures together in a living symbiosis, creating a music that is both spiritual and danceable. In 1987, Karunesh released his first album ...
