Milander Aquatic Center + Bucky Dent Aquatic Center The City of Hialeah seeks to enhance its community by increasing the participation of extracurricular activities through our swim team, The Storm. The program will expand and help further develop the skills and techniques required for swimming. This program will also benefit the participants by initiating a sense of responsibility, increasing self-confidence, and incorporating a good work ethic. The team also participates in tournaments and other competitive events. STORM WATER POLO TEAM Welcome to the City of Hialeah's Storm Water Polo team. Water polo is a team water sport requiring an ability to swim. Combining some elements of swimming, handball, soccer, basketball, ice hockey and wrestling. A team consists of six field players and one goalkeeper. The objective of the game is to score as many goals as possible, with each goal being worth one point. Water Polo is one of the toughest sports on the planet. Field players must swim end to end of a 30-meter pool non-stop many times during a game. The front crawl stroke used in water polo differs from the usual swimming style in that water polo players swim with the head out of water at all times to observe the field. Backstroke is used by defending field players to track advancing attackers and by the goalkeeper to track the ball after passing.
