The Story Neighborhood was originally purchased in 1887 and 1906 by Francis Q Story, a horticulturist who ws also known as the "father of the Sunkist orange." Period revival houses dominate the architectural character of the district, being split almost equally between Spanish revival and Tudor revival. The neighborhood also contains examples of other Revival styles, such as English cottage, Norman cottage, Mediterranean, Pueblo, Mission, Neoclassical, Colonial, Praire and Art Moderne.
